Part A
Lisa has asked her Taiwanese* friend A-Da over for Christmas.
莉莎邀請來自台灣的朋友阿達來過聖誕節。

A-Da: Thanks for having me over, Lisa.
Lisa: It's my pleasure. Christmas is for families. Your family is far away. So you can spend it with mine.
A-Da: I really appreciate it. So, how does your family celebrate Christmas?
Lisa: Well, tomorrow is the 25th. That's Christmas Day. First, we'll open presents. Then we'll go to church and sing Christmas carols. After that, we'll have a big Christmas dinner.
A-Da: What about tonight?
Lisa: Well, tonight is Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve, we get to open one present! |
阿達：麗莎，謝謝妳邀請我過來。
麗莎：這是我的榮幸，聖誕節是家人團聚的日子。你的家人距離這麼遠，所以你可以跟我的
家人一起過。
阿達：我很感激妳這麼做。那麼，你們家都是怎麼過聖誕節的？
麗莎：嗯，明天是二十五號，也就是聖誕節。首先，我們會拆禮物，然後上教堂唱聖誕頌歌，
之後，我們會吃聖誕大餐。
阿達：那今天晚上呢？
麗莎：嗯，今天晚上是聖誕夜，我們可以先拆一個禮物 |

Part B
A-Da and Lisa are looking at the presents under the Christmas tree.
阿達和麗莎看著聖誕樹下的禮物。

A-Da: I know it's traditional to give presents at Christmas, but why do you do it?
Lisa: Well, Christmas is actually Jesus' birthday.
A-Da: He was born in a stable, right?
Lisa: Right. Then three wise men came and gave presents to baby Jesus. So we give presents to each other.
A-Da: But what about Santa Claus?
Lisa: Well, he's part of Christmas, too. Take a look under the tree. Maybe Santa brought you a present.
A-Da: Hey, this one's for me! This is already a great Christmas! |
阿達：我知道聖誕節送禮物是個傳統，但是為什麼要這麼做？
麗莎：嗯，聖誕節其實是耶穌的誕生日。
阿達：他在一個馬槽出生，對嗎？
麗莎：沒錯，然後來了三個智者，給剛出生的耶穌禮物，所以我們互相送禮。
阿達：那聖誕老人呢？
麗莎：嗯，他也是聖誕節的一部份。看看樹下面。也許聖誕老人帶了禮物給你。
阿達：嘿，這是給我的耶！這個聖誕節已經很棒了！ |

A-Da is admiring(1) all the Christmas decorations.
阿達正在欣賞所有的聖誕裝飾。

| A-Da: Is that mistletoe?
Lisa: Yes. If you stand under it, anyone can kiss you!
A-Da: Yeah, I've heard about that. But I'm shy, so I think I'll stand
over here.
Lisa: Would you like some eggnog? We always drink eggnog at Christmas. It's
a family tradition.
A-Da: Hmm. It's good. What about those big red socks? Are they part of a
tradition, too?
Lisa: Those are Christmas stockings. We each have one, and we put little
presents in them. But if you've been bad, Santa fills your stocking with
coal.
A-Da: Don't worry. I've been good! |
阿達：那是檞寄生嗎？
麗莎：對啊，如果你站在它下面，大家都可以親你喔！
阿達：是啊，我聽說過。不過，我會害羞，所以我想我還是站在這裡就好了。
麗莎：你要不要喝蛋酒？我們會在聖誕節喝蛋酒。這是家族傳統。
阿達：嗯，好喝。那些大紅襪呢？也是傳統的一部份？
麗莎：那些是聖誕襪，每個人都有一隻，我們會在裡面放小禮物。可是如果你不乖的話，聖
誕老人會在裡面放煤炭。
阿達：放心，我一向很乖的！ |

A-Da, Lisa, and Lisa's parents are opening their Christmas Eve presents.
阿達、麗莎以及麗莎的父母正在拆聖誕夜的禮物。

| Mom: This one is for you, A-Da. It's from all of us, but Lisa picked it out.
Lisa: Read the card.
A-Da: “To A-Da, our new friend from Taiwan. Merry Christmas and a Happy New
Year!”
Lisa: I hope you like the present.
A-Da: Wow! A camera! Thank you so much. Now I can take pictures of my trip.
Dad: And when you go home, you can show them to your family.
A-Da: That's right. I've already got so many great memories. Now I'll have pictures, too!

媽媽：阿達，這給你。是我們所有人合送的，不過是麗莎挑選的。
麗莎：唸卡片啊。
阿達：給阿達，來自台灣的新朋友，祝你聖誕快樂、新年快樂！
麗莎：希望你喜歡這個禮物。
阿達：哇！一台相機！真的很謝謝你們，現在我可以把旅行的點滴給拍下來了。
爸爸：這樣你回家之後，就可以讓家人看這些照片。
阿達：沒錯，我已經有了這麼多愉快的回憶，現在，連照片都有了！ |
