    bench 原有「板凳」之意,在體育賽事中引申為「板凳球員」,與先發主將 (starters) 相對。如果一支球隊各位置的板凳球員人數充足,且都有一定水準,則可說這支球隊有足夠的「板凳深度」(bench depth)。
    With so many injured players, the team had to rely on their bench for much of the season.
    在多名球員負傷的情形下,這支隊伍大半球季都需要倚仗板凳選手。
     
    recall (瑕疵商品的)回收
    recall 在此指的是廠商對於瑕疵產品的回收行為,須注意與資源再利用的「回收」(recycle) 不同。

    hit the brakes 踩煞車;收斂……的行為;遏止……的趨勢
