When describing a person's physical appearance, it is impolite to say that |

he or she is fat or skinny. It is better to say that they are heavy or thin. It |
|
| |
means the same thing but has a slightly less negative connotation. If you |
|
| |
really want to change the meaning to a more positive one, you would say |
|
| |
the person was big or slim, because these terms imply that the person is |
|
| |
healthy. |
