fat/skinny、heavy/thin、big/slim 這些形容身材的詞要如何使用? |
When describing a person's physical appearance, it is impolite to say that |
he or she is fat or skinny. It is better to say that they are heavy or thin. It |
means the same thing but has a slightly less negative connotation. If you |
really want to change the meaning to a more positive one, you would say |
the person was big or slim, because these terms imply that the person is |
healthy. |
若直接用 fat(胖)或 skinny(骨瘦如柴)來形容一個人的外型是不禮貌的。
Your dad is so fat and your mother is so skinny! |
Your dad is quite heavy and your mother is very thin. |
Your dad is a big man and your mom is very slim. |
We can describe a woman as being "heavy-set" or "big" but be careful. |
Some larger women prefer to be called "full-figured", "big-boned" or |
"plus-sized". Remember that in Western culture, unless you are familiar |
with the person, it isn't considered acceptable for you to comment on |
their body type at all. It's too personal! |
有些大塊頭的女子寧願被稱作 full-figured(豐腴圓潤)、big-boned(骨架大) |
或 plus-sized(大一號)。
