The Ig Nobel Prizes: Laughing and Thinking (1)

Most people know about the Nobel Prizes, but what about the Ig Nobel Prizes? The Ig Nobel Prizes are humorous awards that are given to people for fun. Winners are often people who have studied or invented something silly -- things that "first make people laugh, and then make them think."
In 1992, winners included six Japanese scientists who studied smelly feet. In 2005, an American won a prize for inventing a special alarm clock. This clock makes noise, runs away, and hides when it's time to wake up!
