Every February, millions of people are glued to their televisions. Is it the World Cup or a famous movie? No, it's the Academy Awards──the most-watched awards ceremony in the world. |

The first Academy Awards took place in 1929. Back then, people knew ahead of time who would win, but that wasn't much fun. Today, the winners' names are put in envelopes. No one knows who will win until the envelope is opened. Then we hear those famous words: "And the Oscar goes to..." |
