A typhoon begins as a group of storms. These storms come together and start to move in a circle. When the wind speeds reach 118 km/h, the storm is called a typhoon. |
|
|
A typhoon has three main parts. The first part is the eye, which is a calm area in the center. There is little wind or rain there. Sometimes you can see the sky or stars in the eye. |
|
|
Around the eye is the eyewall, where the wind can be over 250 km/h. One typhoon can produce energy equal to 200 times all the electricity made in the world! |
