Later, Edward and Miles Hendon returned to London for the crowning of the new king. During his brief time as royalty, Tom had learned much about how to be king. However, he began to forget some of the moral lessons he had learned when he was poor. When he passed his real mother on the way to the crowning, he denied knowing her. He was struck with terrible guilt. |

Edward burst into the ceremony just in time to stop the crowning. Tom quickly confirmed that Edward was the true prince. Still, not everyone was convinced. Edward then produced the royal seal, proving his claim. |

Edward awarded Miles Hendon a knighthood for helping him on his journey. Tom was made King's Ward. Though Tom did not wish to return to poverty, he had learned to appreciate a life free of royal responsibilities. For his part, Edward now saw how unfair many English laws were to his people. He spent the rest of his reign ruling justly. It often takes seeing the world through someone else's eyes to get the complete picture. |
