The king of the fairies, Oberon, is having a spat with his wife, Queen Titania. In order to get his way, he needs the help of a love potion made from a rare flower. Put on the eyes of a sleeping person, it will cause him or her to fall in love with the first person seen upon awakening. Oberon orders his mischievous servant Puck to find the flower and administer the potion to Titania. |

Into this drama come our lovers. Demetrius and Helena enter the forest to search for Hermia and Lysander. Demetrius, as usual, is being cruel to the lovesick Helena. Oberon overhears Demetrius treating Helena unkindly and orders Puck to administer the love potion to Demetrius, too. |

| |
The problem is that Puck has never seen Demetrius. He searches for any man that looks like an Athenian. He happens upon Lysander, sleeping a respectable distance from Hermia, and gives him the potion by mistake. |
|
| |
Lysander is found by a wandering Helena. Under the influence of the potion, he is instantly smitten with her. |
|
| |
Puck realizes his mistake and tells Oberon. The king decides to take matters into his own hands and gives the potion to Demetrius. He, of course, also falls in love with Helena. |

問題是帕克從沒見過狄米崔斯。他開始尋找看起來像雅典人的男人。他碰巧遇上了與赫米雅保持一段相當距離、正在睡覺中的雷山德，便誤把魔藥用在雷山德身上。 |

四處遊盪的海倫娜發現了雷山德。在魔藥的影響下，他立刻為她著迷。 |

帕克發現自己犯的錯誤，於是告訴歐伯龍。國王決定親自出馬，對狄米崔斯下藥。當然，狄米崔斯也愛上了海倫娜。 |
