foot the bill 是一個常見的美式片語,與 pay the bill 同義。

I got stuck footing the bill because Ken forgot his wallet.

Allison forks out an extra NT$3,000 for health insurance every month.

  A Midsummer Night's Dream (3)

In the beginning, both men wanted Hermia. Now, they both suddenly want Helena. The two women are dumbstruck at the suitors' sudden change of heart.
Helena comes to the conclusion that everyone is teasing her. Hermia is furious because she thinks Helena has bewitched Lysander. Helena and Hermia begin to quarrel. The two men, meanwhile, are also fighting, but now it's over Helena instead of Hermia.
King Oberon decides to set things straight and orders Puck to create a thick fog so that no one can find anyone else. The magical fog soon puts everyone to sleep.
Oberon gives Lysander the antidote to the love potion but decides to let the potion continue to work on Demetrius.
Morning comes and once again Lysander is in love with Hermia, and she loves him. Helena is still in love with Demetrius, and he now loves her. There is a wedding already planned, and the couples decide it would be a shame to waste it. They decide to return to Athens to get married, though they still wonder about the strange events of the night before.
Puck apologizes to the audience for the fairies' mischief and ends the story with this tender soliloquy:
If we shadows have offended, think but this, and all is mended: that you have but slumbered here while these visions did appear; and this weak and idle theme, no more yielding but a dream!
