  小費文化各國大不同，在大多數的亞洲國家，並無收取小費的習慣，通常服務費已含在費用內，而在紐西蘭付小費反而可能會招來不悅。然而，在美國付小費給提供服務的人則是一種義務與禮貌，無論在飯店、餐廳或搭計程車，通常都會付百分之十五的小費，而飯店侍者替你拿行李，通常每件行李也要付幾塊錢的小費。至於在酒吧，通常每點一杯酒就該付酒保一塊美金的小費。

can it 這個說法有幾個很有趣的來源。一個是當電影拍完之後，導演會把影片收藏在叫 canister 的金屬容器裡以表示拍攝完畢，所以 can it 引申有「請人快點結束目前正在做的事」之意。另一個說法是，農夫收成的水果若非特別新鮮，會將水果放在密封罐裡做成果醬，這個過程就叫作 canning。所以當別人正在做不合你意的事情時，你當然會希望趕快把這件事 canning，才不會覺得心煩！
