can it 這個說法有幾個很有趣的來源。一個是當電影拍完之後,導演會把影片收藏在叫 canister 的金屬容器裡以表示拍攝完畢,所以 can it 引申有「請人快點結束目前正在做的事」之意。另一個說法是,農夫收成的水果若非特別新鮮,會將水果放在密封罐裡做成果醬,這個過程就叫作 canning。所以當別人正在做不合你意的事情時,你當然會希望趕快把這件事 canning,才不會覺得心煩!
