front and center 的起源有兩種說法，一為軍事用語，通常士官要求隊上的士兵出列時，就會說 front and center 即要士兵出列站在隊伍前方正中央。另一個說法 front and center 指戲院中前排中間的位置，這些位置票價通常都是最高的。無論此口語源起何處，現在引申有「引人注目、最為顯著」的意思。
