  此句型用於表示對方若能……的話將感激不盡。
   
I'd really appreciate it if you started the car for me.
  要是你能幫我發動車子，我將感激不盡。

找人幫忙得要能清楚說明問題，以車子發不動為例，你可以這麼說：
• The car broke down. 車子拋錨了。
• The battery died. 電瓶沒電了。
• There's a funny smell. 車子發出怪味。
• We have a flat tire. 車子爆胎了。
• We're out of gas. 車子沒油了。

這句話用於強調尊重對方的做法，雖然自己有不同的看法，但「既然你這麼說、這麼認為的話」，我也不再堅持己見。另一個用法是對談話的主題並不是很有興趣或沒有意見，就用這句話請對方做主。
   
A: Caesar was the greatest leader of all time.
  凱撒是有史以來最偉大的領導者。
   
B: If you say so. I don't really know Roman history.
  如果你這麼說的話。我不是很熟羅馬歷史。
   
A: My sister will never go out with you.
  我妹妹怎麼樣也不會和你出去的。
   
B: If you say so. I wasn't even thinking about asking her.
  你說了算。我並沒有想要約她的意思。

A: This is the best computer for the money.
  這台是最物超所值的電腦。

  不想跟人家爭論時還有另一個說法是 whatever you say，意思就是「不管你說什麼都好」，通常在極度無奈的時候使用。

  pris、prehend（或拼作 pre）表示「抓緊；抓住」，prehend 在拉丁文中帶有「用心思、意志捕捉」的隱喻，因此多帶有「領悟；理解」的意思。
