  pronto 原為西班牙文，有「快速；馬上」的意思。因美西早年曾為西班牙的殖民地，而目前北美洲也有不少母語為西班牙文的中南美洲移民，所以在西部片中常可聽到這個字。
 

lickety-split 是源起於美國的用法，在其他國家並不常見。lick 和 split 都是用來形容時間非常短暫的意思，類似的說法還有 lickety cut 和 lickety click。
