每家商店的退換貨政策（return policy）不同，通常在收據（receipt）背面或收銀台（cash register）旁邊會有說明，不過像清倉拍賣的物品（clearance item）、已開封的娛樂產品、私密衣物（intimate item）、客製產品（custom-made product）等一般都不接受退換。至於退換貨有幾種方式：相等交換（even exchange）、全額退費（full refund）或換給你下次消費抵用的店家消費額度（store credit）。

當人念念不忘之前發生過的事，就可以用 get over it 來提醒對方早點接受事實。另一個相似的口語為 get over yourself，這句話通常帶有負面的語氣，意思就是要人別再自以為是、早點認清其實自己並沒有那麼了不起。
