  為初次見面時的招呼用語,類似於 nice to meet you、hello,此為較正式的用法,且較常用於英式英語中。

  在國際禮儀中,通常男士會先自我介紹,若介紹一男一女給對方認識時,也是先將男士介紹給女士認識,不過,若女士的地位、年紀較男士高者,則先將女士介紹給男士認識,一般男士稱為 Mr.,女士稱為 Mrs.,未婚小姐稱為 Miss,若不知對方婚姻狀況,可用 Ms. 來代替 Mrs. 或 Miss。

  ★你知道嗎?.........................
  在收音機和廣播器剛開始使用的時候,並沒有調整音量大小的設計,所以那時候的人如果想將音量調小,就只能塞襪子在擴音器裡,沿用至今 put a sock in it 就是要人安靜點的說法,要注意這句話可是稍微帶有挑釁的意味喔!
