Situation:Helen, FastTrek's marketing manager,
情境:海倫是青雲科技的行銷經理,
Situation:is meeting with her boss, Lester, and talking about Aaron Miller, the CEO of a management-recruitment agency.
情境:她正在和老闆雷斯特開會,談到一家人才管理仲介公司的執行長艾倫米勒。
Lester:FastTrek is starting from scratch, so we don't have the expertise to compete.
雷斯特:青雲科技才剛要起步,所以沒有足以和人一較長短的專才。
Helen:Then our best bet is to recruit from the competition.
海倫:那麼我們最好的辦法就是從競爭對手那裡挖角。
Lester:We need managers who know how to be strong, yet know how to give people their freedom.
雷斯特:我們需要既強勢又能充分授權的經理人才。
Helen:That's essential, especially in the computer industry.
海倫:那是必要的,尤其是在電腦業。
Lester:We also don't believe that a very rigid management system will work wonders for our company.
雷斯特:我們也不相信一個非常僵硬的管理體系能為我們公司帶來奇蹟。
Helen:Well, that philosophy will help you attract worthwhile people.

Lester:We're hoping your friend Mr. Miller will help us start a recruitment drive.
雷斯特:我們希望你的朋友米勒先生可以協助我們徵才。
Helen:Certainly. And it is a good time, too.
海倫:當然。現在時機也正好,
Helen:A number of firms have been downsizing.
海倫:有幾家公司最近正在裁員縮編。
Lester:So there's lots of capable people out there interested in bigger and better things.
雷斯特:所以現在外面應該有很多有心一展長才的好手。
Lester:But can Aaron help us pin them down?
雷斯特:但艾倫可以幫我們找到這樣的人嗎?
Helen:Well, that's why they call them headhunters.
海倫:所以大家才會稱他們為人才獵人哪。
