Situation:Helen is talking to Lester about some problems she has come across.
情境:海倫正和雷斯特討論一些她所遇到的問題。
Helen:As marketing manager, I have functional authority over the sales people.
海倫:身為行銷經理,我對業務人員有職務上的權力。
Lester:I understand that.
雷斯特:這我了解。
Helen:Well, I've come across some problems in that department.
海倫:嗯,我在這個部門遇上了一些問題。
Lester:Problems?
雷斯特:問題?
Lester:What kind of problems?
雷斯特:什麼樣的問題?
Helen:With David Brenner, I'm afraid.
海倫:恐怕與大衛布藍納有關。
Lester:With David?
雷斯特:和大衛有關?
Lester:Listen, I know you and David haven't seen eye to eye in the past.
雷斯特:我知道妳和大衛過去一直意見不合──
Helen:This has nothing to do with my personal feelings toward David.
海倫:這和我對大衛的個人觀感無關。
Lester:Then what is it?
雷斯特:不然是什麼?
Helen:A number of people from his department, not to mention any names, have come to me personally.
海倫:他的部門很多人私下來找我,名字就不提了。
Helen:It appears that most of the department is unhappy with David's management.
海倫:看來部門裡大多數人對大衛的管理感到不滿。
Lester:Really?! How so?
雷斯特:真的嗎?!怎麼會這樣?
Helen:They say he is micromanaging everything and ignoring the advice of people he should listen to.
海倫:他們說他連細微末節的小事都要管,卻對該聽的建議置之不理。
Lester:That's not good.
雷斯特:那樣不太好。
Helen:And it also appears that he's been taking credit for other people's work.
海倫:而且他好像還一直搶別人的功勞。
Lester:We had better look into this.
雷斯特:我們最好深入調查這件事。
